Here’s Luca’s attempt at remaking the classic 1984 arcade game Marble Madness by Atari.

The graphics are slightly enhanced to bring them on par with modern standards: there is now a full 3D mode in addition to the usual isometric perspective one, a pastel drawing rendering mode and various camera placement options.

The 3D engine is based on OpenGL, SDL takes care of the interaction with the OS and FMOD is used for sound. This means the game is as multi platform as possible, and non windows builds should be fairly straightforward.

The whole 6 level world is present. It’s free and nag-free, and comes with an installer.

Alien Arena is a fast paced, furious frag fest with arenas ranging from the small, to the massive. echoes from Binary Zoo Studios is an Asteroids (oldskool) or Geometry Wars clone. The main aim of the game can be summed up nicely like this “Shoot everything, avoid everything, score some points”.

The game consists of 10 levels with a new enemy introduced on each new level.  They have different strengths, weaknesses and require different strategies to deal with effectively.

The player loses energy when hit by an enemy.  Remaining energy is shown on the HUD but the coloured ring around the player also indicates energy status.

There are 3 different powerups that appear at random intervals to aid your progress: Weapon Up, Energy Up, Ring of Bullets.

Flow involves the player guiding a tiny, aquatic worm-like microorganism through various depths of the ocean to consume other organisms and to evolve their organism as the player advances.

Both Flow’s play structure and aesthetic design are simple and intuitive. The player begins the game as a small, white, worm-like micro-organism on a bright, two-dimensional plane.

Using the mouse, the player can guide the worm. Clicking and holding down on the left mouse button accelerates the speed of the worm. The objective of the game is to guide the worm to eat other micro-organisms and evolve.

Creatures:

The player can control six different creatures, all with their own unique abilities. Each creature must eat other organisms to grow bigger so that it can go deeper under water until it finally reaches the bottom area. When the creature eats the ending piece, the game returns to the top so that the player can start over as a new creature.

The object of the game is simple. Move the ship from side to side, dodge the aliens and their bombs while trying to shoot as many of them as possible. Points awarded for destroying aliens are based on color and flight status.

Completion of each level gives rise to slightly more challenging levels. Extra players are awarded at 10000 and 20000 points.
